Mentoring the next generation of leaders
Many legislators took the opportunity to host students from the Colorado Association of Gifted and Talented on Thursday. I had two enthusiastic students from DPS schools. These two young ladies had great questions and I really enjoyed showing them around the Capitol. They had the opportunity to get a glimpse of a "day in the life" of a legislator including the third reading of bills, committee hearings (two of them), impromptu meetings with interest groups, and an opportunity to get up to the dome for a brief history lesson and a photo. On some level, I believe that all education is experiential and I really look forward to mentoring other young people. Something tells me it won't be too long before we see these young women take up leadership roles of their own.
